Will the midterms ever stop?

I feel like the midterms are never ending. Most majors have 1 set of midterms, half-way through the term, which makes sense. But apparently my professors missed that memo.  This semester alone, I will have 10 midterms and 4 finals for only 4 classes. That seems absurd. Mind you that 5 of those midterms, and 1 final, is for ONE class! At that point, you cant even call them midterms because they're nowhere near the middle of the term. The devils advocate might say that this way there is less material on each exam, which is nice dont get me wrong, but that means you're constantly studying! ANNNNNDDD I'm a 2nd semester senior, with a job, so studying that much is completely out of the picture. I'm really not looking forward to graduating and moving into the real world, but I am sooooo excited to never have to study for a midterm or final again... unless I get my MBA later, but thats a different story...

Midterms already?

It seems like yesterday that we were kicking off the new semester, and yet somehow midterms are already upon us. I had my first midterm of the semester last week in Dynamics. It was difficult motivating myself to study considering I already have a job after graduation but I managed to do surprisingly well on the exam. Now comes the true challenge though, this upcoming week I have 3 midterms within the span of 24 hours. It is going to be rough and will most likely require obsence amounts of caffeine and Starbucks (sidenote- I'm obsessed with the new Starbucks skinny lattes) :-) And I just want to get this out there- how can it be called a MIDterm when its not in the middle of the term and you have like 8 of them?? One of my classes has 4 midterms and a final exam!? That just seems excessive. I suppose in the long run its helpful because each exam doesn't cover that much material, but it just means more hours spent in the library instead of at the beach. So its time to stop procrastinating and time to buckle down and start studying... wish me luck.

Mo-bio, material science, and physiology OH MY!!!

Here I am, a senior and I feel like I have more work than ever. So many of my friends are in their final classes for their major and can relax and enjoy the symptoms of senioritis. I however, am stuck studying the structure of DNA, the diffusion capabilities of the lungs, and the lattice structure of NaCl.  I just have to keep telling myself that it will all be worth it in the end when I get a sweet job after graduation.  However, that seems hard to take in when you're running on 3 hours of sleep and the only thing keeping you alive is the triple shot non-fat sugar free vanilla latte I had for breakfast this morning.

One of the benefits of being a senior though is that my upper division classes are really interesting. Though the work load is intense and the concepts are enough to fry a PhD students brain, the material is fascinating. I love my BME 404- Orthaepedic Biomechanics class. Its all about how joints work and artificial joints.  Six months ago my little brother tore his ACL and NCL in a lacrosse accident and now I can calculate the exact force that caused his injury.  Whats so cool about being a biomedical engineer is knowing that the material that I am learning in my classes can eventually be used to save someone's life or to save them from living a life of pain.  So you can say that my late night study sessions and the millions of flashcards piled on my desk are well worth it.
